Ribbon Head
Here's a drawing of AnnaLynne that I did based on a photo I took of her. In an ideal world, she would be the Grace Kelly to my Alfred Hitchcock.

Children of Men
Children of Men is a powerful piece of filmmaking. Along with Pan’s Labyrinth, it’s the best film of 2006. The film takes place in the future where humans all of a sudden can no longer procreate.
Alfonso CuarĂ³n is a master filmmaker. He uses several long, complex, continuous shots which brings you into his film world and heightens the intensity. It is a amazing use of mise-en-scene which shows you what a brilliant artist Cuaron is. I don’t recall seeing him do such shots in his other films and it is a bravura move here.
Clive Owen continues to show me that ever since I first saw him in those BMW short films that he is a actor worthy of praise. He plays a character who initially is just going through the motions of life. Purpose is all of a sudden thrust upon him and he sees there may be hope for humanity.
I was awed by this film. I see so many movies in a year that are bad or mediocre that whenever I see one that moves me and shows me what great art film can be, it just intensifies the flame inside me to make such films as well.

Pan's Labyrinth
Pan's Labyrinth is the best film I’ve seen this year so far. Guillermo del Toro continues to show that he is a masterful filmmaker. Guillermo Navarro’s cinematography is beautiful and gives this modern fairy tale a magical look. The film is about a young girl during the Spanish civil war who has to cope with a new (evil) stepdad, sick mother, and the upcoming birth of a baby brother. When she and her mother move to be with her mother’s new husband (who is also a captain in the fascist army), she soon realizes she is also entering a magical realm...

Captain Jack
Here's Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. When I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest this summer, I wasn't expecting much because of the negative reviews I heard. I was pleased that those turned out to be wrong. I really enjoyed the movie. It was fun and adventurous. I liked the unorthodox script structure and Johnny Depp continues to be the coolest actor on screen.

The Secret World of Comic Book Artists
I recently finished a rough cut to a feature film that I wrote and directed. It's a comedy titled "The Secret World of Comic Book Artists" and stars AnnaLynne (Transporter 2) and Eric Weldon (The Tyra Banks Show). Two comic book artists and a beautiful girl attempt to meet a seemingly insurmountable art deadline. In the process they ruminate about life, love, religion and why there aren't any young guys named "Dick."
We are taking the film on the film festival circuit. Here's a poster for the film that is penciled and colored by Herval and inked by me.
You can check out a trailer and clips here:

I have also uploaded a trailer and clips of the movie on YouTube:

Mrs. Howard M. Shum
Here’s a drawing of my future ex-wife Angelina Jolie. “How will that happen?” you ask. After viewing my debut feature film, Angelina would immediately want to meet the brilliant filmmaker behind such a visionary piece of work. Angelina falls passionately in love with me on first sight. We fly off to Sri Lanka to get married. Zahara and Shiloh think that I’m cool while Maddox shouts at me, “I don’t have to listen to you! You’re not my real daddy!” We then jet off to the Ukraine to adopt triplet orphan babies. On our way back from picking up the triplets, Angelina and I get into an argument about string theory and quantum physics. We stop in Mexico and she divorces me. She leaves me stranded, but luckily I manage to hitch a ride with Jessica Simpson who is in town for a Mensa meeting.

Future Star
I have seen the best young actress currently working in film. AnnaLynne's acting is natural and she makes it seem effortless. It is said in basketball that a sign of a great player (Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson) is that he can make bad to mediocre players better than they actually are. I have witnessed AnnaLynne's ability to do this with fellow actors. I think she can make any film better with her presence.

Intrigue
Every once in a while, someone will ask me if I intend on finishing my comic miniseries Intrigue. Intrigue was written as a seven-issue series and three issues were published. Various circumstances (FedEx losing original art, having to change pencilers, etc.) caused the publication to be delayed. I have issues #4, #5, and #6 all penciled and partially inked. I will not publish any more issues until all the art for the entire story is finished. Here are some unpublished pages penciled by Francis Portela and inked by me.

I Wonder...
I wonder what Natalia Vodianova would be doing right now if she didn't become a model, marry a rich dude, and had two kids. I think she would be creating comics. She would probably want to collaborate with the best creator in comics and since Dave Sim is semi-retired and Kyle Baker prefers to work alone, that would mean me. We would make a really cool comic (even cooler than Gun Fu). People would say, "What is this amazingly beautiful girl wasting her time doing comics? She should act or model." Natalia would then become a model, marry a rich dude, and have two kids.
